What type of businesses does Kerr Ventures invest in?

Kerr Ventures invests in a few key areas within cybersecurity. We focus on application security, secure coding, DevSecOps, threat modeling, secure by design, and secure AI. Occasionally, we invest in standout startups outside of these core areas.

What stage does Kerr Ventures invest at?

Kerr Ventures invests in early-stage startups, primarily at pre-seed, seed, and sometimes Series A.

What is your investment process and how long does it take?

Our investment process involves three meetings. First, a preliminary conversation to connect and see if there is interest on both sides in going deeper. If we all decide to move forward, we’ll provide a list of questions and requests for information. We’ll discuss the questions and process findings during our second meeting. In our third meeting, we’ll close any loose ends and decide if we all wish to move forward as a group.

We ensure enough time between meetings to allow both parties to answer any questions. This process typically takes around a month, but it can be quicker when we have a lot of experience and conviction in a sector, or it may be slower if we have many questions.

Will one of the Kerr Ventures team join my board?

Ordinarily, one of our investors will join your board as a member or in an advisory position.

How long will it take for the money to reach my account once Kerr Ventures has decided to invest?

Once we decide to invest, we begin the due diligence process and prepare the necessary legal documents. This typically takes around four weeks.

How do multiple VCs settle on deal terms for the same round?

If multiple VCs wish to lead a round, they will submit competing term sheets to the founder, who will choose the VC they wish to work with. The other VCs can then invest under the same terms as the lead investor. The lead investor will support the founder in establishing the investment conditions, such as the amount of capital, from the other VCs.
